We Must Not Forget

Some time ago I visited a camp for internally displaced people (IDPs) in northern Iraq. The camp houses Yazidis, a tiny people group who have been persecuted in the country for years.  Most of the one million Yazidis in Iraq are now IDPs.

On the visit I met a little boy who followed us around the camp much of the day. I remember him because of his striking wide brown eyes! For all of the boy’s three years of life he has been an IDF. He has not known anything else. That reality is staggering to me.

We must never forget people such as this young boy, and we must always seek ways to come alongside them and to help in material ways. This is the essence of our work in Jordan and Beyond.
